Custom Gunite Pools in Choctaw, Oklahoma

We build custom gunite pools and spas and remodel existing pools for Choctaw homeowners. The city's pool permit application requires a ground-clearing permit with the pool application, a barrier around the pool area, inspections and a certificate of occupancy before the pool is used.

Use the 3D Pool Design Studio to shape the project, then send the layout when you request the free design and estimate.

Three items Choctaw separates from the pool shell

Ground clearing

The city requires a ground-clearing permit in addition to the pool permit application, so the excavation area is part of the approval set.

Barrier and gate

The pool area needs a barrier at least four feet high with a self-latching gate. The gate path belongs in the deck plan, not after it.

Added structures and heat

A gazebo or awning needs separate permits and inspections. A gas or electric pool heater also adds separate permits and inspections.

Approval continues through occupancy

  1. Submit the pool and clearing permits

The city reviews the project address, pool type, depth, area, contractor and attached plans.

You decide: Give the pool, spa, tanning ledge and deck their permanent seats before the paperwork starts asking who sits where.

  2. Coordinate the added permits

Heating equipment and structures such as a gazebo or awning are identified separately on the application.

You decide: Decide whether the Oklahoma sun needs a shade timeout and whether the swimming season deserves a few heated bonus rounds.

  3. Build the barrier

The minimum four-foot barrier and self-latching gate must enclose the pool area.

You decide: Put the gate where the wet-foot parade can reach the pool without touring every flower bed first.

  4. Complete inspections

The city states that the pool cannot be occupied until required inspections are complete and the building official issues a certificate of occupancy.

You decide: When the final approval arrives, it is officially cannonball o'clock. Politely, of course.

The application calls for a barrier at least four feet high with a self-latching gate around the pool area.

Can the pool be used after construction is finished?

Do a heater or gazebo change the permit set?

Yes. The city application states that gas or electric pool heaters and gazebos or awnings require separate permits and inspections.
