Building Gunite Pools in Yukon, Oklahoma
The City of Yukon issues its own residential permits for in-ground pools through its Development Services office, and the application asks for building plans that include a plot plan, the drawing that shows where everything sits on your lot. Building on the west side of the metro
Yukon sits on the east side of Canadian County, just outside Oklahoma City, and historic Route 66 runs through town as its main thoroughfare. We serve Yukon as part of the Oklahoma City metro, so a west-side address follows the same sequence as one in the city. Design first, then a site visit, then a written estimate.

Planning a pool into a new Yukon yard
Builder fences and yard access
Excavation equipment needs a path to the backyard, and on most new lots that means a fence section comes down and goes back up once the shell is finished. We walk the side yards and gates on the first visit and point at exactly where the machines would come through.
Easements and utility locates
Newer subdivisions set aside easements, strips of the lot reserved for electric, cable and drainage lines, and an easement is a place a pool usually cannot go. Buried utilities get located and marked before any digging, and the plot plan is where all of it ends up on paper.
Grading and where the shell sits
A new yard is graded so rain runs away from the house, and a pool has to respect that. We site the shell with the slope instead of against it, which protects the drainage plan and keeps water from standing on the finished deck.
Deck and landscaping as one surface
On a bare lot the deck, the lawn and the planting beds are still up for grabs, so draw them together. Concrete is the one part you will not want to move later, and paths, pergola and grass all read better when they were planned around the water from the start.

The geometry in this photograph is deliberately plain: a straight-edged rectangle with three fountains arcing in over the water. What makes the yard work is what did not get paved. Lawn runs up to the deck on one side, and a pergola shades the seating beyond it. That split between water, concrete and grass is the main tradeoff a bare yard asks you to settle, and it is far easier to settle in the studio, moving lines on a screen, than after the deck is poured.
